Today marks the official release of the long-awaited new CD by the Eyal Vilner Big Band – “Almost Sunrise.” We’re celebrating with a CD Release at Small’s Jazz Club in Greenwich Village, NYC. This is a special afternoon event, ahead of Small’s regular schedule. We’ll be performing from 4:30pm to 7:00pm, cover charge is $20. I hope you’ll come and hang with us. If you’re not in town, the gig will also be available to watch online, via the Smalls website livestream.

4:30pm in NYC (EST) is 9:30pm in the UK, 10:30pm in Mainland Europe etc. Hopefully some friends and family in that direction will look in!

Tonight, I’ll be making a welcome return to Smoke Jazz and Supper Club with Orrin Evans and the Captain Black Small Big Band. 2 shows – 7pm & 9pm – and a $9 cover charge. Brave the elements and come on out to enjoy some great music!

Making a welcome visit to Birdland, this evening, as a “blizzard”-related substitute in the trumpet section for Steve Lippia and his “Sinatra Centennial” show. Having spent so many years working with the best Sinatra-stylists in the UK and Europe, I’m interested to see how the best of the best from this side of the Atlantic compares! 2 shows, at 8:30pm & 11:00pm. Hope to see you!

“Keep On Keeping’ On” Now Available on iTunes

I was delighted to see that the recent documentary feature about Clark Terry, “Keep On Keeping’ On” has been made available to rent and buy on the iTunes store. To my shame, I didn’t have an opportunity to see it during it’s limited theatrical release, late in 2014. I just downloaded and watched it and it exceeded my expectations! What a beautiful film!!

This is a truly uplifting movie, which deserves to be seen as widely as possible. I encourage everybody to go and buy a copy of their own. It’d be a pleasant change to see something like this topping the film charts, rather than the typical Hollywood nonsense. Plus, you can bet that CT would get the biggest kick out of it!!

Let’s share this far and wide and see if we can bring it to greater public attention!
