Practicing without agenda…

Today was, ostensibly, a day off for me. I did pick up the trumpet and practice for an hour or so, but it was largely without agenda – not for a video, not to prepare something in particular – it simply felt good to check in on some fundamentals for a short while and put it down again. The rest of the day was for relaxing and visiting with family. I should take time for more days like today.

I travelled from New York to London, today, on the 8:15am flight. Therefore, I was up at 4, out of the house at 4:30. Consequently, no time to practice before I left. I’m writing this at midnight, by London time, and I’m finally the correct side of some food and back in my hotel room. Of course, I’m wide awake so it’s time to post this, then grab the trumpet, and my trusty practice mute, and get some facetime in. Hopefully it proves relaxing and I can get to sleep before long. Gotta love jet lag!

Just start…

There is much to be done, in order to revitalize this website and have it be an active part of my output, once again. I’ve been pondering it for a long time, and have become increasingly overwhelmed by the prospect of fixing the things that are now broken, as well as freshening up the design for the first time in almost 10 years.

It should be obvious, as somebody who practices everyday, that breaking the job into bite size chunks should be the way to get this done. Therefore, what I need to do is just start.

Writing this update is me making a start. It’s time for me to do a little something on this site everyday for a spell, even if that’s just an update like this, or adding a gig date, or a performance video, or anything else. I’ll be back to do something else tomorrow!

“Keep On Keeping’ On” Now Available on iTunes

I was delighted to see that the recent documentary feature about Clark Terry, “Keep On Keeping’ On” has been made available to rent and buy on the iTunes store. To my shame, I didn’t have an opportunity to see it during it’s limited theatrical release, late in 2014. I just downloaded and watched it and it exceeded my expectations! What a beautiful film!!

This is a truly uplifting movie, which deserves to be seen as widely as possible. I encourage everybody to go and buy a copy of their own. It’d be a pleasant change to see something like this topping the film charts, rather than the typical Hollywood nonsense. Plus, you can bet that CT would get the biggest kick out of it!!

Let’s share this far and wide and see if we can bring it to greater public attention!
