Today’s gig – October 18, 2015: Eyal Vilner #Big Band @ Zeb’s
Due to technical difficulties with Small’s Jazz Club, we have a change of location for today’s show with the mighty Eyal Vilner Big Band. Please come and join us at Zeb’s, located at 223 W 28th St in NYC, from 4:30pm – 7:00pm. Everything else will be as normal: Eyal’s fantastic charts played by a stellar band, featuring some of the finest musicians in the city, and special guest vocalist Brianna Thomas! Looking forward to swinging at the Rainbow Room with the Brian Newman Orchestra, this evening. It’s our last visit for a while, as the festive events season gets underway. Looking forward to being back there before long though! We’ll be playing for your dancing pleasure from 8:30pm – midnight.
Tonight’s gig – Oct 13, 2015: Mike Longo #BigBand featuring Jon Faddis @ Baha’i Center NYC
Tonight, the Mike Longo NY State of the Art Jazz Ensemble will be featuring special guest Jon Faddis for the Annual Celebration of John Birks “Dizzy” Gillespie at the Baha’i Center NYC Jazz Tuesdays series. Any trumpet fans are not going to want to miss this one – a Jazz Trumpet master, in his own right, paying musical tribute to his mentor!
The Baha’i Center NYC is located on E11th Street in NYC, between Broadway & University Place. There is one show at 8pm. Afterwards, film footage of Dizzy Gillespie performances will be shown. The cover charge is just $15 ($10 for students).

Double duty again, today!
First up, I’ll be joining Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra at the “Pueblo Harlem!” festival, taking place at Harlem School of the Arts, on Saint Nicholas Ave around W142nd St. We’ll be closing out the proceedings with a dance set at 5:30pm. They have a whole program of other events during the day – check your local listings!
Then, I’ll be leading the trumpet section for Charlie Rosen’s Broadway Big Band at Feinsteins/54 Below, in midtown. We play our usual 9:30pm show, featuring some of Broadway’s hottest young talent singing Charlie’s fantastic big band arrangements of Broadway favourites.
