The Philosophy: Efficiency & Musicality
Bryan Davis has been an active music educator for over 30 years, teaching private lessons, conducting masterclasses, and coaching ensembles worldwide. His teaching methodology focuses on one clear goal: making the physical act of playing the trumpet as effortless as possible.
Through intelligent, organized practice and informed equipment choices, Bryan helps students achieve strong fundamentals and playing efficiency. The aim is to make music with the instrument rather than against, or in spite of, it.
Injury Recovery & Rehabilitation
Bryan specializes in helping players struggling with lip injuries—whether caused by an accident or the cumulative effect of years of playing harder than necessary.
Note: It does not have to hurt to play the trumpet. Bryan can help you rebuild your efficiency to play pain-free.
Institutional Affiliation
In addition to his private studio, Bryan serves as an “Out of Proficiency” Instructor for trumpet students at The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music in NYC.
Lesson Formats & Locations
1. In-Person (New York City)
- Location: Bryan’s home studio in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan.
- What to bring: Your trumpet and any mouthpieces you use.
2. Online Lessons
- Available worldwide via Zoom.
- Requirements: Please read the Online Lesson Setup page prior to booking. This guide covers the recommended hardware and the specific audio settings required for the lesson to be effective.
- Note: Online lessons must be prepaid to secure the booking.
3. “On the Road”
- When Bryan is touring, lessons may be available at the performance venue or a location provided by the student (subject to schedule availability).
Recording Policy
Students are highly encouraged to record lessons for future reference (audio or video).
- Need a recording? Bryan can provide a high-quality audio recording via download. Please note that lessons are not recorded by default—you must request this at the start of the session.
- Privacy Notice: Sharing lesson recordings (whether recorded by you or Bryan) publicly or privately is prohibited without Bryan Davis’ express permission.
2026 Rates & Booking
Lesson Duration All lessons are a minimum of 1 hour.
- Recommendation: First-time students are encouraged to book a longer slot (90 mins or 2 hours) to allow for a comprehensive assessment.
Pricing
- USA / Online: $100 per hour (e.g., $200 for a 2-hour lesson)
- Eurozone (Germany/Austria): €100 per hour
- Other Regions: Please email for currency rates.
Payment Methods
- In-Person: Payment can be made by Zelle, Venmo or in Cash.
