Preparation

I claimed, a week or two ago, that I was imminently getting back to making my long-form YouTube videos. This has been briefly shelved, once again, as I’ve realized that I need to get properly ahead on my preparation work to make them happen sustainably in the long term.

The upcoming series I’m planning is going to be a 30 day range practice challenge. This sort of video needs to be made everyday, and it’s not possible to batch create ahead of time, because then my own results from the practice will be skewed. Since I have to record and edit daily, I need to template, schedule and streamline the process as much as possible.

Nonetheless, I will be back soon. The preparation work is happening now.

Interruption…

I had a new streak of posting, building nicely. Then I got busy and snapped it. Time to start over…

Actually, the bigger thing this demonstrated to me is the power of my journal. I began a Bullet Journal practice about 6 months. When I’m home, I’m very much in the habit of making and keeping to my daily lists. When I’m on the road, as I was this weekend, less so. I got busy and neglected to journal my lists in the moment and then, sure enough, I forgot a couple of things. Nothing too significant in the grand scheme of things but, nonetheless, they got away from in a way that hasn’t happened recently.

Lesson learned. I’m doubling down on my BuJo.

Heading down to Philadelphia, PA where we’re playing with Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. We hit at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30pm. We’re celebrating the musical legacy of Arturo’s father, Maestro Chico O’Farrill. Hope to see you there…
